Day 102

Day 102:

Architects have been on campus for the past couple days, and....they want to renovate P/W and make Lage into a Student Center! It's kinda exciting, but also sad since I probably won't see it while I'm here. :)

They also want to build a skywalk across the street!!!! Really, really, really exciting.
Here's a 3D model picture from their presentation today.

Day 100!!! and 101

Day 100: June 9th

I filled up with gas. While you can't spot the typo below, it says "Don't overfill, tank", like it was specifically talking to a tank :) It made me smile, as a grammar nazi.

EDIT: I zoomed in! :)

Day 101: June 10th
PLAZAAAA! I haven't been there in almost 3 weeks and I thought I was going to die. Thankfully, Brandyn and Bryce wanted to go :) (and then we went shopping...bad idea!)

Day 98 & 99

Day 98: Monday, June 7th

I'm currently applying to medical school. So, I have to write gobs of personal statements about why I'm the best candidate for their prestigious institution.

Last night, I finished the FIRST draft of many of my personal statement, while watching The Devil Wears Prada. :)

So, here's the cover art for that! If you've never seen it or read the book, I recommend doing both.

Day 99: Tuesday, June 8th

During Finals Week, Jen and I decided we should study before our Tuesday 2:30 pm final in the Molecular Lab, where there is plenty of white board space. We studied, laughed a lot, and then went and rocked our finals.

However, apparently, the information we wrote on the boards was so crucial to that lab that the eraser-happy janitors decided to spare this information. I found it today, and laughed a bit at the memories. :)

So, here it is!

Day 89-97

You will have to forgive my photo fails.
I'm terribly sorry. But, I won't count days I don't have photos as actual days so there will still be 365 photos by the time I'm done. :)

(May 22nd-May 27th: Total blur. Moved over from Swope, didn't have a lot of free time. Sorry!)

Day 89: Friday, May 28th

On my drive home for Memorial Day weekend, I stopped in Odebolt to fill up on water. There was this little old lady in the doorway who mumbled something as I walked in and I didn't hear her. So, I stopped, and as politely as possible, said "What?" :) She then repeated that she was selling these flowers for her local VFW, and that it was a free-will donation. I gave her a couple dollars, and now this lovely flower resides by my speedometer, replacing the one Kim gave me (previous posts) which has been long gone. :)

Day 90: Saturday, May 29th

Katrina invited me to this masquerade party, which I was at first a bit skeptical about. However, once I got there and realized Corey, Kayce, Kar

Day 91: Sunday, May 30th

My car makes this squeaking noise as I drive. So, when I came home, I brought it to the shop where I had gotten work done before. They wanted 600+ for it. Dad, of course, said no. I brought the car home, and 5 hours and $200 later, he had the problem fixed! :)

That's why it rocks to have an amazing dad!

Day 92: Monday, May 31st

I drove home for Memorial Day, and around Omaha. While I had a blast, my car is sure showing the mileage! :)

Day 93: Tuesday, June 1st

I've officially started my job in the Science Center on campus. Here is a smily face I made with ethanol while I was cleaning a lab bench in the Genetics lab :). Basically, my job is to clean up everything from the school year and prepare the professors for the next year by making solutions, etc. In other words, TONS of fun! :)

Day 94: Wednesday, June 2nd

Another one of my jobs this summer is to look at things we have, and decide if we need to buy more stuff. This is a micro kit for Organic Chemistry, which you can perform a great deal of experiments out of. I organized over 30 of these! :)

Day 95: Thursday, June 3rd

Every day, I write on the board "Grant is..." and add the location where I am if I'm not in my set location in the science center, so people know where to find me.

When I left one day, Dr. Lenzmeier brought his two sons in, who decided to fill in the blank message. :)

Apparently, I'm awesome!

Day 96: Friday, June 4th

This past year has been a blast. To show how AMAZING it has been, I've decided I'm going to print off a bunch of the pictures from this past year and make a little mural for my wall next school year. Here are the first couple ones. (On a side note, your first couple prints through walgreens.com are FREE!) :)

(Saturday, June 5th I was sleeping/working/studying. So, I didn't find a useful picture)

Day 97: Sunday, June 6th

Driving back to the dorms after a grueling 12 hours of work, I noticed some birds on the side of the road! I was literally 10 feet away from these birds. The little birds are so adorable! :)

However, since I was so close, I think I was freaking out the mama bird who started to hiss at me. Whoops!

Day 79- Day 88

Day 79, May 12th

This was my to do list on that date :)
If you look at the end, I plan (still happening), on getting back at Lindsay - she did something really mean to me and I need to get her back :) (all in fun of course)

Day 80, May 13th
Cassandra and I were studying in the science center when Lindsey asked if Cassandra could watch Karlie (pictured). She is SO adorable! She laughs at everything, and is quite possibly the happiest baby ever. :)

Day 81, May 14th

Spot the typo? Jen and I went to Honey Kissed for their amazing meal deal, and I found this funny typo.

Day 82, May 15th

I spent the entire day working on the fly report for Genetics. This is the picture from the front page.

Day 83, May 16th

It was our last pre-checkout dinner as a staff. The parents (Jeremy and Jodi) gave us all pictures of us with them as a keepsake from this year. It makes me happy just seeing it :)

Day 84, May 17th
Big test day. Went to see Lindsey's art show, having to do with the American Dream. This is the back wall, and I think, the best part :)

Day 85, May 18th
I got in my car. It was kinda warm...and apparently this pop couldn't handle it. :)

Day 86, May 19th
I studied all day, and then decided to pack up my room sort of. On one of my walls were door decs from the past. This is one of my favorites, and it unfortunately ripped when I tried to take it down, so I had to throw it away. :(
(Thanks, Dana!)

Day 87, May 20th
Did checkouts ALL FREAKING DAY. :) Here is a picture of a cable cord, which we have to collect from the residents when they leave.

(picture to come soon).

Day 88, May 21st
Today has been a weird day. Moved most of my stuff to Swope, hung out with fellow RAs, watched Up! and FAMEEEEEEEE! :) Great, great movie. :)

And there was another LONG update. Sorry, but finals were not going to let me post. :)

Day 78

I just spent two hours listening to medical professionals, and a couple people who sit on medical college admissions committees, talk about what they are expecting for several different pieces of a medical school application. Needless to say, it's freakin' me out a bit.

That said, of course I forgot to take a picture of the actual live session, so this is a picture of a spreadsheet one of my fellow medical school-hopefuls made that I'm planning on using to narrow down my potential applications. :S

Wish me luck over the next three months!

Day 77

Our school is currently fighting for a prize in the Pepsi Refresh contest. They were giving us a pop for doing it! :)

If you want us to win money, go to pepsirefresh.com/bvuawol :) You can vote every day with every email you have.

Day 74-Day 76

(Look at me not failing!) :)

Day 74 - May 7th

In the CAE, we have an animal named Buster the Beaver. We enjoy hiding him around the CAE in various locations, and seeing if other tutors/students can find him. Can you find him in this picture?

Day 75 - May 8th

Tonight was the Spring Ball, sponsored by Senate. This picture is of Jen, Nicole and I. We had lots of fun. :)

Day 76 - May 9th

I hid Buster again. Can you find him? :)

Day 59-Day 73

Hi.
It's been another long time. So, I'm going to do a mass post to get caught up in days.
It's been 17 days, so here are 17 photos/photo fails. Enjoy :)

Day 59 - April 20th
I've been doing too much calculus lately...:S

Day 60 - April 21st
Since it had just happened, how about I celebrate my amazing SAB board? :) Here's the picture from our first night at NACA, a regional conference in St. Paul

Day 61 - April 22nd
Kim gave me this adorable flower. While it shriveled up really quick, it's still adorable. It symbolizes our friendship - delicate. :) :P

Day 62 - April 23rd
Scholar's Day! I wore an amazing tie from Kelsey and Jen and I took a sweet pic :)

Day 63 - April 24th/Day 64 April 25th
FAMILY WEEKEND! :) Tons of pictures. Here are two to satiate. :)

Day 65 - April 26th
Fail.

Day 66 - April 27th
HUGE day on campus - Buenafication Day - really interesting! :) Here's an amazing picture of the sky! :)

Day 67-69 - April 28th-May 1st
My whole world has been the MCAT. Here's the package which saved my life.

Day 70 - May 2nd
Got back on campus, and went to the year end party for the CAE at Plaza! :)

Day 71 - May 3rd
Fail

Day 72 - May 4th
Today was the RA recognition banquet. Here are two photos (making up for yesterday's fail). First is of Kim, Jen, Stephanie and I. :) Stephanie is our mentor, and we would be lost without her! Second is most of the G/L Staff from this year!

Day 73 - May 5th
Caryline pushed me to update. I took a picture of Carly while she was yelling at a sketch credit card company, and I thought it looked like a mac ad. :)

And just since Care made me do this, here's an oldie of CARE! :)

Day 58

I know, it's been another hiatus. Life's crazy. :S

I follow this blog called "1000 Awesome Things." It helps remind me of the simple pleasures that we see everyday, and how I should smile about even the littlest things.

Well, in February he had a special for pre-ordering the book, which I took. TODAY, I got it, and I'm so freaking pumped to curl up with a blanket and flip through it. :)

Thanks Neil for all of your hard work! I'm so excited!

Day 57

Since I failed for a couple weeks earlier this semester, I'm going to try doubling up day so I can get this done in one year!

Today SAB has airbrush tattoos. I got a sun, and it's very bright and happy. :)

Day 56

At the place I work, we write up on the board what we are doing for whatever break is really close.

Here's our responses to what we're doing for spring break :) It makes me really happy because I was the first one to write it, and now everyone else has written around it. :)

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Day 55

Tomorrow I'm having a community builder for my residents entitled Eggs and STDs, where we'll dye eggs and conduct an experiment demonstrating how easy it is to get an STD if you're not careful!

I boiled the eggs tonight so they would be ready for tomorrow :) I'm pretty excited (I might have eaten a couple...they're sooooo good! :))

Friday, March 19, 2010

Day 54

This weekend is a complex-wide program sponsored by my RD, Jeremy. This is the ad for it, and I'm pretty pumped. :)

I'm making cream cheese brownies :)

Day 53

(sorry this is late)

I finally got my roulette wheel! :)

Monday, March 15, 2010

Day 52

I recently bought a roulette wheel from Target.com for a RA event coming up.

On Friday, they sent me this strip of rubber, seen above.
1. The packing label said it was supposed to go to Maryland
2. The packing label said it was supposed to be a card shuffler
3. It's neither of those things, and the people on Target customer service SUCK.

:)
